This 1 million square foot new mall, sited on 78-acres was designed to reflect the unique personality of Myrtle Beach, incorporating its coastal culture; vacation allure and memorable experiences of comfort, convenience and charm. The new mall utilizes materials and design elements of both coastal and low country traditions.
The center court architecture is inspired by the boardwalk fishing piers along the resort community. The food court draws from an old wood framed meeting structure of an adjacent community. Other coastal design references for graphics, lighting, materials and patterns are throughout the project. Mall anchors include Dillard’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Old Navy, Books-A-Million, Sears, Belk, JCPenney, Bed Bath & Beyond and a Cinemark Theatre. Shops and restaurants make up over 170,000 SF GLA. An outdoor pedestrian space is framed by restaurants and shops at the front of the mall.
CBL’s experience with MSTSD was very positive. The staff performed all necessary functions in an efficient and professional manner, and worked harmoniously with the Owner and Contractor through the project. MSTSD met expectations and project deadlines and adapted to the changing scope of the project. They committed manpower and effort needed to execute an excellent project. They have been the architect on the original phase and second phase of the project.
