Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Cafeteria

Atlanta, Georgia

Owner: Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta

This $1,000,000 renovation and addition of this children’s hospital cafeteria provided better traffic flow throughout the dining facility, a more efficient space plan and much needed additional seating. Prior to the renovation the dining facility was 13,600 gross square feet. The renovation and addition added 8,500 gross square feet to the dining facility and increased the total seat count from 350 to 600. The renovation and expansion also included, a more efficient tray return and dishwashing system. The shell of the existing serving and seating area was completely renovated from floor to ceiling, creating a more colorful and child friendly environment. The existing atrium area was expanded to provide additional seating capacity. Close attention was paid to the acoustics in the renovated area.

The cafeteria is operated by Morrison Healthcare Food Services, a member of the Compass Group and the nation’s only food service company exclusively dedicated to providing food, nutrition and dining services to hospitals and health systems. MSTSD worked closely with Morrison to integrate their operational standards to deliver a design that operates at peak efficiency.

Construction was completed in 3 phases during a 20 week period to maintain uninterrupted food service delivery.
